DESCRIPTION:Please join us for us for our Annual Meeting where we will elect the directors and officers for 2022-2023. Following the meeting\, we will have a presentation by Ms. Crncevic. \nOn May 2\, 2022\, a draft opinion in the pending US Supreme Court case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was leaked to the public. While not final or binding on the Court\, the draft opinion purports to overrule the landmark case Roe v. Wade which confirmed the constitutional right to abortion in the US nearly 50 years ago. Jovana Crncevic acted as counsel to the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health and other UN mandate holders and co-authored an amici curiae brief filed with the US Supreme Court in support of the Respondents in Dobbs. Please join us as we hear Ms. Crncevic. review the brief and discuss the consequences\, particularly with regard to the US compliance with international human rights\, of overruling Roe and permitting state statutes to prohibit or restrict abortion in America. \n
